Autumn Term Targets 2022 / 2023

Target 1

To develop a quiet area / zone within the grounds of the school yard. Area to be sectioned off and signs to be purchased in order for a quiet area /zone for children at break and lunchtimes. Partly achieved, liaised with the Well Being Committee to decide on a name (Zen Den), Mrs Smith and Committee currently purchasing resources

Target 2

To purchase a range of activity games / equipment and storage for children to use at break and lunch times. Achieved, resources purchased are to be kept in a central storage area and can be used in the nature garden

Target 3

To purchase decorative signs to be used within the seating areas upstairs. Signs could have quotes or messages linked to personal and social development i.e. kindness, thoughts, inspirational, motivational and so forth. To be continued, currently seeking prices of a range of quotes or children to

possibly design their own which are then laminated and displayed in the upstairs outdoor area

The above targets will be reviewed at the beginning of the spring term 2023.

Spring Term Targets 2023

Target 1

To introduce a reading buddy scheme, junior pupils to read a story to Foundation Learning classes, a class rota to be developed and timetable for reading session to take place, possible time last session of the day

Target 2

Junior pupils to have a friendship buddy during break times, (lanyards to be purchased) for children to form friendships with children

Target 3

Junior pupils to participate in weekly outdoor learning sessions. Mr Owen and Committee to distribute booklet of a range of outdoor learning activities which can be used by children

Target 4

Possible introduction of a class display linked to lateness, Mr Owen will speak with Mr Jewitt to suggest ideas from the school council

The school council are looking at resources to purchase for their Calm / Quiet Zone.

The school council could not find any suitable signs for the outside area.

Archie suggested the children make their own signs or contacting a factory, who could make them,

The school council thought this would be too expensive. The signs need to be resilient and

weather-proof. Mr Owen suggested looking at some websites for ideas www.theschoolsignshop.co.uk and www.charliefoxsigns.co.uk

The children liked some of the signs pictured. Mr Owen said he will speak to Mr Jewitt to see if it is

possible to order them. Mr Owen told the children he will let them know the outcome in the

next school council meeting. Meeting closed at 10.00 am.

Children went on a tour of the ks 2 outdoor area and discussedt improvments which could be made

Repaint floor markings

4 decorations in outdoor area on top yard

School council to meet to discuss what resources are required for use in the school garden. SC will meet after half term to look at a range of resources and then order them out of SC budget.

Outdoor Gym

Only teacher on duty or Teaching Assistant are to look after their own class on equipment during their break duty. Information to be sent to each individual class teacher and TA. SC to discuss what safety measures to be put in place and then place posters on fence near gym. Safety measures to be announced during FP and KS2 class assemblies.
